Welsh Open 2026

Event Details

All weapons will be fenced electronically throughout. Fencers are responsible for providing equipment. You may only enter one event per day. Fencers should ensure that they have the appropriate and full level of membership of their national body. Membership will be inspected before the competition or at registration. All clothing and equipment must conform to British Fencing regulations, under plastrons must be worn (specification, minimum 800N).

This event is open to fencers aged 13 or over before 7th November.

This event is eligible for Junior ranking points.

One round of poules, with all fencers promoted to direct elimination.

Excalibur Swords will be attending the Welsh Open with a wide range of fencing equipment available.

Excalibur Sports - Sword Fencing Equipment

Armourers will be available, but their priority throughout the weekend will be the equipment on the field of play.

Entry Limits

We will be applying event entry limits to allow us to better manage use of space during the events:

• Saturday: Men's Foil - 98, Women's Epee - 84, Women's Sabre - 49

• Sunday: Men's Epee - 98, Women's Foil - 84, Men's Sabre - 63

Entry Information

• Standing Fencing Entry Fee: £55

• Wheelchair Event Entry Fee: £55 flat fee. Please enter the Wheelchair Event and then email matthew.russell@fencing.cymru with the weapon(s) you would like to enter. Schedule TBC.

• Closing date for entries is Friday 30th October 2026.

NO late entries will be accepted.

Prizes

There will be monetary prizes* for the top four fencers in each category of the standing fencing event, plus prizes for the best cadet and best veteran.

The monetary prizes are:

1. 1st Place: £100

2. 2nd Place: £50

3. 3rd Place: £25

(* Monetary prizes will be issued as cheques.)
